Obituary

Milton C. Plummer Sr., 91, of New Carrollton, MD, passed away on February 9th 2022 after a valiant battle with pneumonia.

 

Milton was born on August 26th, 1930 to Eugene James and Arlie Belle Davis Plummer in Brentwood, MD. He attended Terrell Junior High school in Washington, DC.  Sometime during the studying and obtaining his G.E.D in 1950. He landed his first job at a car dealership, Lustine Chevrolet and later with The University of Maryland in Food Services. In 1950 he entered the United States Army and went on to serve in the Korean War where he was awarded the Bronze Star for his heroic efforts.

 

After his Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army in 1953, he began his professional career with Interstate Commerce Commission in Washington DC as a Postmaster, kicking off a 23-year career in the Federal Government.

 

In 1953, he met Frances (Tolson) Plummer, and they wed in 1954, going on to have three children, Milton Jr., Telita, and Doreene.

 

After retiring in approximately 1992, Milton spent his time volunteering at his church; he was a foster grandparent for many years giving back to DC Public School; he enjoyed writing poetry, taking long walks, and playing keno. One of his greatest joys was cooking Sunday dinners for his great grandchildren for the last five years of his life.  

 

Milton is predeceased by his parents, his two brothers and one sister, Bernard, Gloria, and Howard Plummer. He is survived by; his three children, Milton C. Plummer Jr.,  Telita (Higginbotham) Plummer, and Doreene (England) Plummer; his seven grandchildren, Antonio, LaToya, Milton III, Sharrae (Brent), Quinnae, Crystal (Darrin), Dezarie (Antarn); and his 21 great grandchildren, Alayah, Bria, Rashad, Indyia, Jaylin, Ameyia, Gabriel, Caleb, Jeremy, Mykia, Leyah, Aniyah, Simone, Fayth, Miracle, Jeremiah, Eden, Kaiden, Hailey-Rae, Jackson and Logan and a host of other relatives and friends.
