Obituary
Gregory was born on February 21, 1949, at Georgetown University Hospital located in Washington, DC to the late Godfrey Adolph Vaughan and Lena Ophelia Frye Vaughan.

Gregory was educated in the District of Columbia Public Schools and graduated from McKinley Technology High School. After high school, he worked for the District of Columbia Public Schools as a Statistical Clerk. Later in life, he worked as a Loan Officer for the DC Teachers’ Federal Credit Union. Gregory was granted the opportunity to retire at an early age in order to enjoy the passions in his life.
Gregory was a DC native who loved rooting for the home teams, especially the Wizards and Redskins, currently known as the Washington Football Team. He enjoyed many hobbies over the years: basketball, bowling, golfing, fishing, listening to all genres of music, attending cookouts, scratching lottery tickets, and spending time with friends and family. He was a passionate and self-proclaimed chef who took pride in preparing meals without following any directions from a cookbook. He particularly loved cooking for his friends and family during the holidays when he created his signature items such as pulled pork, leg of lamb, beef brisket, smoked turkey, and fried turkey. He occasionally provided community service by cooking breakfast for the members of Saint Francis de Sales Church in Washington, DC for church functions. Gregory enjoyed being able to make people happy from his deeds.
Most importantly, Gregory loved his grandchildren and loved to spoil them with gifts and money as he was affectionately known as “Poppy”.
Left to cherish precious memories are his three sisters: Beverly Harley (Francis/”Buddy”), Janet Vaughan Jones, and Gina Vaughan; two children: Kim Vaughan and Eric Vaughan (Mia); six grandchildren: Donovin Cofield (Ciera), Maliya Brooks-Vaughan, Luci Byrd, Jasmine Vaughan, Eric Vaughan (“EJ”) Jr., and Malik Davis; two great grandchildren: Skylar and Devyn: a devoted godfather: Mr. Harris Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
