Who is Kendal Wade Funeral Home?Our Family has been in the Deathcare Industry for four (4) generation collectively. We have a funeral home branch in North Carolina, as well as a cemetery branch in Virginia. Our very capable staff and scientists with advanced degrees and experience in mortuary science, psychology, theology, and public service insures that in every single step of this process is handled by knowledgeable and compassionate professionals. What is the funeral home's contact information?We meet based on appointments only please call 240-580-WADE [9233] Office Address: 814 Upshur Street NW, Washington D.C. 20011 (please send all flowers and other condolence items directly to the church). Office Hours: 9am - 5pm / Monday - Friday (24 hours for emergency death calls please call 240-580-9233). Do we get to see our loved one before the service?Yes, before the funeral service 1 or 2 days prior your family will have the opportunity to have a “PRIVATE VIEWING” to make sure that the clothes, hair, nails etc, are to your liking. This is also the time that adjustments will be made.

What is a private viewing?A private viewing is a 20-30 minute visit at the funeral home with your loved one prior to the service. Because of continued health precautions we limit the private viewing to no more than 3 people which is a mandatory maximum.

What is the difference between a funeral and a memorial service?During a funeral a casket is present however, during a memorial service a casket is not present although an urn may be.

Is it extra to have a funeral on SaturdayNo, however all Funeral & Cremations services must end by 12:30pm on Saturdays.

What if we need a preacher?If a preacher is needed, we have a chaplain on staff at a flat rate of $275. That price includes: Officiating (the master of ceremony) Eulogizing (the preaching portion)

What if we need a singer?If a singer is needed, we have some available, rates will vary.

What if we need a church?Yes. Churches are available. The rate for the church will vary.

Can we have a funeral at the funeral home?We have Two offsite chapels for "in house" services. One in D.C. and the other chapel is located Maryland. the use of our chapels is an additional cost is $350.

What if we need a longer wake/ viewing?To add an extra hour to your wake or service it will and added cost of $250 (That does not include the overtime fee for the limousine if applicable).

Are limousines Required?No, the only vehicle that is required is the hearse.

How much do they cost?Limousines are $575 for the first 4 hours any time over that is $125 per hour.

How many do they seat?7 people if someone sits in the passenger seat of the limousine.

What is the vehicles itinerary on the day of the service?The vehicle will pick the family up from one address, take the family to the church. If there is a cemetery you will be taken there as well as if there is a repass. After drop off at the repass the limousine’s service is complete.

Do you cut the clothes?Yes, in order to dress your loved one we will have to cut their clothing.

Can we get the clothes back?Yes, depending on the item some items can be returned.

Do they have to be cremated in clothes?Yes, unless it is a direct cremation.

Will you all do their makeup & hair as needed?Yes.

What if we have someone, we would like to do it?Your person is allowed to do it after our staff doe the minimum required.

There’s a typo on the certificate, how do I have it amended?The amendment process can be lengthy and costly. To avoid this, we do recommend taking your time and thoroughly reviewing the death certificate information. The cost of the death certificate will be the responsibility of the family. The amendment process cost starts at $150 not including the state cost.

How do I get extra copies?You can visit your local vital records in the state your loved one passed. Check their website as some states will allow them to be ordered online.

Who has a right to the death certificate?Different states have different stipulations however, we only give a copy to the next of kin. If their are multiple we will give it to the one whom signed the contract.

What information do you need for the death certificate?Our office will provide you with a list of things needed for the vital statistics.

What types of caskets are there?Caskets come in two materials, metal and wood. Some metal caskets seal, wooden caskets do not

What is the difference between a casket that can seal vs. a non sealed casket?Caskets are available as either sealed/gasketed or non-sealed/non-gasketed. The main difference between sealed and unsealed caskets is that sealed caskets have a rubber gasket that runs along the perimeter of the casket lid. This rubber gasket forms an airtight seal when the casket is closed for burial. The gasket helps prevent air, water, and insects from getting inside the casket.

Do I have to buy it from the funeral home?No, you can order a casket from anywhere but please check with your family counselor before ordering. It it’s important for you to order the proper size for your loved one and we must coordinate delivery of the caskets. Also, please note that there is a $250 receiving fee paid to a third party contractor to dispose of any and all parts of the casket’s shipping material.

How much do caskets cost?Caskets costs vary based on the family’s choice. There are several factors that play a part in the cost of a casket such as; Material, Style, Color, Size, and other Added features like gaskets (rubber sealer), decorative handles, and plaques. Please see our general Price List for more information.

Can I rent a casket, if so what will it look like?Yes, rentals are only for persons being cremated after their funeral. Rental caskets vary based upon availability. The Price to rent the casket is $450.00 the cost of the required insert is an additional $350.00.

Can the service be Live Streamed?Yes. Live stream services are $450. Live stream services will appear on the same link as the "Online Memorial Page." Please refresh that same link 15 minutes before the scheduled service time. The live stream will be recorded and will remain on the site for 1 year.

Where and when can I see it?Live streams will be visible on the same link that has all of your loved ones service information on it. Please refresh the link 15 minutes prior to the service to view it.

How long will it be up?As long as the video streaming services are available.

I cannot hear the sound sometimes.Because of YouTube's copyright policies, during certain musical selections the sound has to be muted. However, after the musical selection sound will resume.

Do we have to leave it up?No, a family can request for the live stream to be removed at anytime.

What if the church already has livestream?We can add their live stream on our website, however we can not guarantee the quality or duration of time the livestream will be available.
